evacuated by boatIn case you haven’t heard, Disaster Recovery Centers opened today in DuPage and Grundy Counties to serve people who were affected by the recent severe storms, and flooding. DRC services include help with applying for disaster assistance and finding out about other disaster programs available from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), state and local agencies, and voluntary organizations. PERMA-SEAL TEAMS UP WITH BERNIE’S BOOK BANK TO COLLECT CHILDREN’S BOOKS DOWNERS GROVE, IL: March 7, 2012 – Perma-Seal is sponsoring a children’s book collection to support local non-profit Bernie’s Book Bank throughout the month of March. The goal is to collect 1,000 children’s books!

Bernie’s Book Bank collects, processes and distributes quality new and gently used children’s books to at-risk children all over Chicago and its suburbs with the intention of creating book owners and readers for a lifetime. Founded in December 2009, Bernie’s Book Bank has distributed more than 600,000 books to Chicago-area children through schools and other organizations that serve large populations of at-risk children. It was announced by the Chicago Tribune on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 that Perma-Seal was named a 2011 Chicago Tribune Top Workplace in Illinois. Out of the large number of companies that participated in the program, 128 companies were recognized as Top Workplaces in the region.

The special Chicago Tribune report recognizes the best places to work, judged by those who know best – the employees! These Chicago-area companies were selected from employee surveys, conducted by WorkplaceDynamics, that credited the companies for having dynamic, supportive and inclusive cultures. The surveys measured qualities including company leadership, communication, career opportunities, working environment, managerial skills, pay and benefits.
